My EPIA M10000 fan is damaged beyond repair. I took it off, but the CPU gets fairly hot by itself — too hot to touch. However, I had a few 25cm aluminium rulers (bought from the Bodum shop in Paris a few years ago, in fact).
Two of these aluminium rulers can be wedged into the outer flaps of the M10000 heatsink, quite effectively. With the mainboard lying flat on the shelf, the rulers pointing straight up, the bottoms of the rulers are quite warm, but by about the halfway point, they’re cool to touch. Certainly if you touch the tops, they’ll feel pretty much room temp. The CPU heatsink itself is now hot but not too hot to touch — you can certainly hold your finger on it for a prolonged period of time without considering the temperature overly uncomfortable.
